DAY 9: JOY I (THE FRUIT)

30 DAYS DEVOTIONALS WITH PREACHER SAM

THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY

SEPTEMBER 9, 2022.

TOPIC: JOY I (THE FRUIT)

BIBLE READING: PSALMS 126:1-6

VERSE FOR MEDITATION: HABAKKUK 3:18 NKJV

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Joy should not be mistaken for happiness or pleasure. Pleasure is a response in your body, happiness is a response in your soul, but joy is a response in your spirit. Both pleasure and happiness fluctuate because they respond to physical situations, but joy does not fluctuate because it flows from the realm of God.

You may find pleasure in reading books, that’s your body responding. But if there are no books to read, the pleasure won’t be there. You may be happy if you see a credit alert; a part of your soul called the emotion is responding to that. But if all you receive is debit alert, you will be sad. But joy does not respond to what we feel or our emotion, but it responds to the nature of God in you.

Joy is not as a result of happenings, but it is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22). A fruit is a product of a seed that was once planted. The Bible talks about God’s seed in the believers (1 Pet. 1:23; 1 Jn. 3:9), and a careful study of His seed, you will discover that that seed is the Word of God hid in your spirit.

For a seed to yield its fruits, it must be well rooted (Mk. 4:3-9, cf. Eph. 3:17; Col. 2:7), properly dressed (Gen. 2:15; Jn. 15:2) and undergoes the process of growing (Mk. 4:26-29). That is how the fruit of the Spirit is produced from the Word, it must find its root deeply in your heart, and it must be properly dressed and allows it to germinate in our spirit.

“To dress and to keep the garden” simply means “to watch and pray”. So as you study the Word (well rooted), you pray (properly dressed) and the live it out by faith (the process of growing), the fruit germinates in our spirit. If you follow through this process, the rain, the floods and the winds can’t move you (Matt. 7:24, 25). That is how a man with joy operates; he is not moved by circumstances. A man that is full of God’s Word, is a man that is truly full of joy in his spirit.

PRAYER:

FATHER, PLEASE GRANT ME THE GRACE TO STAY ON YOUR WORD UNTIL IT IS WELL ROOTED IN MY SPIRIT, AND HELP ME TO LIVE BY YOUR WORD. IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN!

DECLARATION:

I AM FULL OF GOD’S WORD! I AM FULL OF JOY!
