30 DAYS DEVOTIONALS WITH PREACHER SAM

THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY

SEPTEMBER 8, 2022.

TOPIC: THE FAITHFUL GOD II

BIBLE READING: GENESIS 26:1-17

VERSE FOR MEDITATION: PSALMS 23:2 ERV

He gives me green pastures to lie in. He leads me by calm pools of water.

Yesterday, we saw the way of God is different from the way of man. And that the way of God may not look like it at first, but when you follow through His process, the end thereof is glorious.

Isaac was instructed by God to stay still in Gerar, and at that time, there was famine. Because he had judged God faithful, he obeyed and he sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. How do you explain that? And the Bible passage went on to say, “The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous… So the Philistines envied him.” (Gen.26:13, 14).

If truly you are living by the faith in the Son of God, then you ought to walk by faith and not by sight (Gal 2:20; 2 Cor. 5:7). Some believers are making the mistake that Lot made; the Bible said concerning him that he lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan that it was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord. But he didn’t know the end thereof of Sodom, that was because he walked by sight, and the way of man is destruction (Gen. 13:10).

Many believers think greener pasture is abroad; abroad is not above. Green pasture, according to our verse for meditation, is where God leads you. To Isaac, his green pasture was in Gerar where there was famine, and he prospered. Lot thought green pasture was in Sodom, but that was not, because he eventually lost all.

During the temptation of Jesus, the Bible says that the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time (Lk. 4:5). Meaning that the devil can assist someone to a height of greatness in an instant. Not everyone who has gone ahead of you was actually helped of the Lord. King Ahab had gone ahead of Prophet Elijah, but the moment the hand of the Lord came upon him, he outran the king (1 Kings 18:46). The difference between the help of God and the help of the devil is that God grants speed, but the devil makes everything happen in a rush. Speed involves process, but rush skips process. Prophet Elijah was helped of the Lord because he waited for the hand of the Lord (Isa. 40:31).

There is what we call good success in scripture (Jos. 1:8), and every good gift comes from God (Jam. 1:17). Meaning good success comes from God; but bad success comes from the devil. Everyone may be successful now, but time will tell if such success is good or not. Learn patience and exercise faith in the God that is ever faithful, and you will prosper.

PRAYER:

LORD, HELP ME TO TRUST IN YOUR WAYS AND FOLLOW THROUGH YOUR PATH, IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN!

DECLARATION:

I WILL WAIT UPON THE LORD, FOR HE WILL RENEW MY STRENGTH. AND I HAVE GOOD SUCCESS, BECAUSE HIS MIGHTY HAND IS UPON ME.
