TOPIC: CHARACTER AND CHARISMA III- BEWARE OF PRIDE

BIBLE READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 8:1-13

VERSE FOR MEDITATION: 1 CORINTHIANS 8:1B-2 NKJV

We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.


I took a careful study on our Bible reading on the word ‘knowledge’, and I discovered that none meant ‘epignosis’. Anyone who has an experiential knowledge of God will be humbled and his testimony will be, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out!” (Rom. 11:33).

Our verse of meditation is an admonition to us to stay humbled. There is a kind of knowledge we ought to know, the kind of knowledge that will lead us to know God experientially. The knowledge of God does not puff, but the kind of knowledge that puff is the kind of knowledge about God, and this kind is not filled with love. “But if anyone loves God, this one is known (ginosko- that is, recognised) by Him.”

The knowledge of God will not only humble you and cause you to love, it will also stir up the fear of God in you.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge…” (Prov. 1:7).

“Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.” (Prov. 2:5).

In our Bible reading, we see how the knowledge about God led to an insensitivity of the weak believer’s conscience. We have liberty in Christ Jesus, but the knowledge of God will teach you how to use your liberty to bring Him glory.

As you begin to grow in grace, be careful not to let pride to set in. Pride is a deceptive tool of the devil to make a great man fall. Beware of pride. Love and Humility are two greatest characters a believer must live by in order to represent God well. It is after these two characters are in display in a believer’s life, that’s when he can manifest the power of God.

ABBA FATHER, I NEED YOUR HELP PERPETUALLY TO REMAIN HUMBLED. PLEASE KEEP ME FROM FALLING. IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN!


DECLARATION:

I INTENTIONALLY REFUSE TO ALLOW PRIDE RULE MY HEART. I CHOOSE TO REMAIN SENSITIVE TO MY BROTHER’S CONSCIENCE AND NOT USE MY LIBERTY TO HURT HIM.

2024: THE YEAR OF ESTABLISHMENT
