THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY
SEPTEMBER 17, 2022.
TOPIC: THE TRYING OF THE FAITH IV (JOB)
BIBLE READING: JOB 1:1-22
VERSE FOR MEDITATION: JOB 23:10 AMP
But He knows the way that I take [and He pays attention to it]. When He has tried me, I will come forth as [refined] gold [pure and luminous].
Jesus Christ claims to be the truth (Jn. 14:6). He is the Word of God (Rev. 19:13). So when the Word of God is rightly divided, it sets one free (2 Tim. 2:15; Jn. 8:32). But there are some scriptures that hold many in bondage; one example is the book of Job.
Truth, when not guided by the Spirit of truth can lead to error, thus keeping some in bondage (Jn. 16:13). Error is when truth is taking out of context and proportion.
God commanded the man, “… you shall not eat…” (Gen. 2:17), but what man told the woman was, “… You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it…” (Gen. 3:3). But Eve must have seen Adam tending every tree in the garden of Eden- that’s touching (Gen. 2:15). The additional information is the truth taking out of proportion, leading to error and bondage (Col. 2:21-23).
The test of Job was to produce faith in Him, Job didn’t have faith in God; he lived in fear and uncertainty (Job 3:25).
If you begin with a false premise that God uses trials, trouble and sickness to correct us when we sin, then you are going to reach a wrong conclusion.
The word translated ‘chasten’ means ‘to instruct’, ‘to correct’, ‘to teach’ or ‘to educate’.
God corrects us from the scripture and not through sicknesses or poverty (2 Tim. 3:16, 17). And the reason why it is not pleasant is because it is against our flesh.
From our Bible reading, Satan tried to move God to destroy Job without cause but God would not do it. Verse 12 have been misinterpreted that God turned Job over to the devil, but a careful study reveals that Job was already in Satan’s hand and he was not even aware of it until God pointed it out to him. How did Job get in Satan’s hand since we read earlier on that he was perfect and upright? Job lived in fear and uncertainty and he unknowingly opened the door to Satan and tore down the hedge (Eccl. 10:8, cf. Job 1:10).
Verse 8 is another scripture people feel that God turned Job over to Satan, but in the literal Hebrew, it was the same thing Jesus revealed of Peter, that Satan desired to have him (Lk. 22:31). God was simply pointing out to Satan his desire but at the same time, setting up a limitation on him not to kill Job.
We can go on to reveal God’s faithfulness in the life of Job. “Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father who created all the lights in the heavens. He is always the same and never makes dark shadow by changing.” (Jam. 1:17).
PRAYER:
FATHER, PLEASE HELP ME TO WALK IN YOUR FAITHFULNESS AND NOT IN IGNORANCE OF WHO YOU ARE. FOR IN CHRIST’S NAME I ASK THIS. AMEN.
