DAY 9: ACCORDING TO YOUR TENDER MERCIES II- DAVID
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY
(A
DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)
TOPIC:
ACCORDING TO YOUR TENDER MERCIES II- DAVID
DATE:
9 SEPTEMBER, 2021
BIBLE
READING: PSALMS 51:1-19
VERSE
FOR MEDITATION: PSALMS 51:1 NKJV
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your
loving-kindnesses; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out
my transgressions.
David,
a man after God’s heart, knows how to move the heart of God by a cry for mercy.
When
the scripture says, ‘… he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He
is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him’ (Heb. 11:6). It is revealing to
us that before you approach God, you need to know who He is first, and also
know that He will liberally answer you. Without this knowledge of God, you
cannot come to Him boldly to obtain mercy (Heb. 4:16).
David
understood the mercies of God that was why He could come boldly to ask God for
mercy after committing the sins of adultery and murder. He said, “According to
the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.” This was
something King Saul did not understand, he was so myopic about the knowledge of
the tender mercies of God that was why God rejected him as king over Israel.
It
was Prophet Samuel that told King Saul that to obey is better than sacrifice (1
Sam. 15:22), but there is a sacrifice that God can never despise even though He
does not desire sacrifices, that was what David offered unto God- the
sacrifices of God; a broken and a contrite heart (Ps. 51:16-17). This kind of
sacrifice is a heart cry for mercy, which God seems ‘helpless’ to overlook. The
cry for mercy will surely move the heart of God.
PRAYER:
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your loving-kindness; according to the
multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
DECLARATION:
I WILL GROW IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF WHO GOD IS AND HIS ACT OF HIS GREAT
MERCIES.
