DAY 30: SONGS OF MERCY III
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY
(A
DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)
TOPIC:
SONGS OF MERCY III
DATE:
30 SEPTEMBER, 2021
BIBLE
READING: PSALMS 25:1-22
VERSE
FOR MEDITATION: PSALMS 25:7 NKJV
Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my
transgressions; according to Your mercy remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O
LORD.
As we
have thoroughly explained that God does not forget. But when the Scripture
says, “I [God] will forget your sin”, and the Psalmist here says, “Do not
remember (that is, forget) the sins of my youth nor my transgressions”. Simply
means, “Clear off every record of sins of my youth nor my transgressions”. And
the Psalmist added, “… According to Your mercy remember me, O Lord, for your
goodness’ sake”. Simply means, “According to Your promises take action, for
your goodness’ sake, O Lord”. What action? We can find that in the next
consecutive verses.
To
teach us in the way, for all the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth (vv.
8-13). The reason for such teaching is so that we can inherit the earth (Ref.
Matt. 5:5).
To
reveal the secret of the Lord and show us His covenant (vv. 14-15). All that
God wants from us is to call out to Him for mercy (Ps. 86:5 c.f. Isa. 55:7),
and He will answer us. And in addition to Him answering us and showing us His
tender mercies and loving-kindnesses, the Scripture says that He will show us
great and mighty things, which we do not know (Jer. 33:3).
To bring
us out of distress (vv. 16-17). In one of our devotionals, we saw how the mercy
of God brings us rest.
To
bring healing; that is another dimension of the mercy of God. Healing in the
body (vs. 18), healing in the soul (vs. 20) and healing on the land (vs. 22
c.f. 2 Chron. 7:14).
The
mercies of God provide for you all these benefits, and even much more. Why not
embrace the Father’s love and let it fill your heart today. This is an
opportunity you won’t want to miss.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I accept you this day into my heart and I embrace your love. Help
me to love you more than I love myself.
DECLARATION:
THE BENEFITS THAT COME WITH THE MERCIES OF GOD ARE MINE THIS DAY AND FOREVER.
AMEN AND AMEN!
