DAY 24: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT III- THE LEPER

 THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY

(A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)

TOPIC: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT III- THE LEPER

DATE: 24 SEPTEMBER, 2021

BIBLE READING: MARK 1:40-45

VERSE FOR MEDITATION: MARK 1:41 TPT

Being deeply moved with tender compassion, Jesus reached out and touched the skin of the leper and told him, “Of course I want you to be healed- so now, be cleansed!”

This leper in our Bible reading is another person from the New Testament that enjoyed the mercy of God. From his conversation with Jesus, you could tell how faithless he was. But he was bold enough to approach him, that was why he obtained mercy (Heb. 4:16).

The leper must have heard of this man called Jesus. He had some understanding who this Jesus was; a miracle worker. And it was with that confidence that he came to Jesus.

The sovereign mercy of God overlooks our ignorance, but God decides who to show this mercy to. Yet His new mercies are freely shown to anyone with understanding (Lam. 3:20-24). Your understanding of who God is and the riches of His mercy is what will bring you your desired result (Heb. 11:6).

The difference between King Saul and King David was the understand King David had about the mercies of God over King Saul. That is why devotionals like this brings us to the knowledge of the riches of God’s mercy.

PRAYER: Lord help me to grow in the knowledge and understanding of Your mercy and how it works.

DECLARATION: WITH THIS UNDERSTANDING I HAVE OF THE MERCY OF GOD, I COME BOLDLY TO THE THRONE OF GRACE.
