THE
RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY
(A
DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)
TOPIC:
GOD’S MERCY AND THE LAW
DATE:
11 SEPTEMBER, 2021
BIBLE
READING: ROMANS 7: 7-25
VERSE
FOR MEDITATION: JOHN 1:17 TPT
Moses gave us the Law, but Jesus, the Anointed
One, unveils truth wrapped in tender mercy.
Many
people who have read the Bible without the author, the Holy Spirit, have seen a
polytheistic God; the God in the Old Testament is different from the God in the
New Testament. That is not true, God does not change (Mal. 3:6), He is the same
yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8). God has forever been abounding in
His rich and great mercy.
In
our Bible reading, we understand that the law was given to reveal our sin and
the need for a saviour. The reason we see the mis-happenings in the Old
Testament was because of the law. “… The strength of sin is the law.” (1 Cor.
15:56), and this law results to death (Rom. 7:5). According to the law; “cursed
is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them…”
(Deut. 27:26). And it is impossible to keep the whole law (Jam. 2:10).
Without
the law, there won’t be any need for man to see reason to be saved by God’s
grace alone through faith. So God gave the law by His own act of mercy so that
salvation can be wrought through Jesus Christ.
The
God in the Old Testament was the same God in the New Testament. The difference
is that the people under the old covenant operated by the law, but the people
under the new covenant operated by grace. But His mercy endures forever (Ps.
107:1), it is from everlasting to everlasting (Ps. 103:17).
PRAYER:
I thank You oh God for Your rich and everlasting mercy that You have shown and
showered unto me through Your Son Jesus Christ. Amen!
DECLARATION:
THE LORD IS GOOD! FOR HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER.
