FOR MEDITATION: LUKE 22:32 TPT
But I have prayed for you, Peter, that you
would stay faithful to me no matter what comes. Remember this: after you have
turned back to me and have been restored, make it your life mission to
strengthen the faith of your brothers.”
Today,
we shall be concluding on the riches of God’s mercy by looking at Peter as our
final case study.
Before
the Lord’s crucifixion, He told Peter about what was revealed to Him in the
place of prayer, of how Satan desired to have him. But He has prayed that his
faith should not fail.
First,
Satan has a desire. That was what Jesus Christ meant in John 10:10, “The thief
does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” The devil, our
adversary, will not come to you, except he had found something in your life
that is threatening to him and his government. That is the desire of the devil!
If he succeeds in stealing that, he quickly kills it so that your faith will
fail, and once your faith fails, he destroys you in hell.
From
childhood, I do have some dreams that eventually come to pass, some people
thought it was déjà vu. And from teenage, I do see things beyond the natural,
and some people thought that I was hallucinating. Now, because I was not given
proper orientation and training about the prophetic, I sometimes despise them.
That was how the devil started stealing that prophetic gift I had, he hijacked
it from me and planted lust in my soul. It became so bad to the point that just
a little glance at a lady, I had run through a quick scan on her and could tell
what was beyond her covering. But thanks be to Jesus who understood my
weaknesses (Heb. 4:15) and made intercession on my behalf just like Peter (1
Jn. 2:2; Heb. 2:17). Now the gift has been restored and it is being used
effectively for the kingdom.
The
devil had a desire to cause that Peter’s faith should fail after denying Christ
so that his ministry would die just like Judas Iscariot and won’t be used on
the day of Pentecost to win those 3000 souls and of course shepherd the Lord’s
sheep.
Even
when Peter was sure of himself that he could not be possible to fail and disappoint
his Lord, Jesus had to tell him what would happen by predicting his denial. And
after what Jesus had told him really happened, he repented.
The
Bible talks about two kinds of repentance; the one that leads to salvation and
the other that leads to death. The one that leads to salvation is done on the
basis of mercy. Both Judas and Peter had the same weight of sin but Peter
repented on the basis of mercy, that was why Christ restored him back to his
apostolic duty, as we have seen in our Bible reading (Jn. 21:19 c.f. Matt.
4:18-20).
I
don’t know who this is meant for, but I believe that there is someone who would
read this and could relate to what have been shared here. You’ve done a lot of
grievous sins and your heart is condemning you, and you doubt if God can
forgive you. See, God is willing that all should repent (2 Pet. 3:9), so that
He will remember your sins no more (Heb. 8:12). This is the riches of His mercy
towards you today.
It is
the devil’s desire to steal the gift that God has deposited in your life, that
is to be used for God’s kingdom. Don’t let the devil cheat you on your
prophetic and glorious destiny, come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain
mercy (Reg. Heb. 4:15, 16). This is the Father’s love!
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I come by your blood to seek for mercy and for the forgiveness of my
sins.
DECLARATION:
GET BEHIND ME SATAN, YOU CANNOT CHEAT ME ON MY PROPHETIC AND GLORIOUS DESTINY.
