DAY 16: THE ACT OF GOD’S MERCIES II- TO EVERYONE

 THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY

(A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)

TOPIC: THE ACT OF GOD’S MERCIES II- TO EVERYONE

DATE: 16 SEPTEMBER, 2021

BIBLE READING: ROMANS 15: 7-13

VERSE FOR MEDITATION: ROMANS 15:9 NLT

He also came so that the Gentiles might give glory to God for his mercies to them. That is what the psalmist meant when he wrote: “For this, I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing praises to your name.”

Yesterday we saw the act of God’s mercies to Israel under the Abrahamic covenant. But today, we will see the act of God’s mercies to everyone (the non-Israelites; the Gentiles) under a better covenant; the Messianic covenant. The effectiveness and the power of mercy is based on the strength of the covenant.

If under the old covenant, the children of Israel enjoyed the riches of God’s mercies, how much more for us under the new and better covenant?

In Psalms 78, we see God’s act of mercies to a rebellious Israel who didn’t keep her own part of the covenant, even when God did. He divided the sea and caused them to pass through. He led them in the daytime with the cloud and in the night with a light of fire.

He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink in abundance and brought streams out of the rock. But these people sinned even more against God and they tested Him in their heart. God was grieved in His heart because of their rebellion and disbelief, yet He still opened the door of heaven and rained down manna on them to eat. These people ate bread of heaven; the angel’s food to the full. He also rained meat on them like the dust.

In spite of this they still sinned, and did not believe in His wondrous works. But He, being full of compassion, forgave them and remembered that they were but flesh, a breath that passes away and does not come again.

Now, that is God’s act of mercies to a rebellion Israel, even under the old covenant. And for sure, He did more than what we have discussed here. How much more for us that are children of obedience under the new and better covenant? Are we not in a better position to enjoy more of the riches of God’s mercies?

He brought deliverance to Israel. How much more for you? He protected a rebellious Israel; He never left them or forsook them. How much more for you? He provided food and drink in the wilderness to a disbelieving Israel. How much more for you? Even when Israel sinned much more, God still forgave them and because He understood that they were but flesh. How much more for you who have an Advocate that pleads for us?

Romans 8:32 NKJV

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

I strongly recommend you study Romans 11.

PRAYER: O Father of mercies, thank you for this revelation and understanding that I have received about Your abundant and rich mercies.

DECLARATION: I AM IN A BETTER POSITION TO ENJOY THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCIES.
