DAY 30: SONGS OF MERCY III

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: SONGS OF MERCY III DATE: 30 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: PSALMS 25:1-22 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: PSALMS 25:7 NKJV Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; according to Your mercy remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O LORD.   As we have thoroughly explained that God does not forget. But when the Scripture says, “I [God] will forget your sin”, and the Psalmist here says, “Do not remember (that is, forget) the sins of my youth nor my transgressions”. Simply means, “Clear off every record of sins of my youth nor my transgressions”. And the Psalmist added, “… According to Your mercy remember me, O Lord, for your goodness’ sake”. Simply means, “According to Your promises take action, for your goodness’ sake, O Lord”. What action? We can find that in the next consecutive verses. To teach us in the way, for all the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth (vv. 8-13). The reason for

DAY 29: SONGS OF MERCY II

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: SONGS OF MERCY II DATE: 29 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: PSALMS 25:1-22 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: PSALMS 25:6 NKJV Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your loving-kindnesses, for they are from of old.   Yesterday we were looking at the word, ‘remember’ and how God does not forget. But you may be tempted to ask this question, “If God does not forget, how come the Scripture says that God will remember our sins no more? Simply means, He will forget our sins.” (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:12; 10:17). When you study those Bible passages contextually, you will understand that it was referring to a new and better covenant that we have in Christ Jesus through His finished works on the cross. Under the old covenant, the sacrifices of bulls, lambs, goats and turtle doves, does not take away sin permanently from our heart. But under the new covenant, Christ paid and offered one sacrifice for sins forever.

DAY 28: SONGS OF MERCY I

THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: SONGS OF MERCY I DATE: 28 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: PSALMS 25:1-22 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: PSALMS 25:6 NKJV Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your loving-kindnesses, for they are from of old.   It was Apostle Paul that admonished us to speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, and that we should sing with grace in our hearts and also make melody in your hearts to the Lord. This is accomplished when the word of Christ dwells in you richly in all wisdom, like a wine that intoxicates, and like the Spirit that fills (Col. 3:16; Eph. 5:18, 19). After the word of Christ has dwelt in you richly in all wisdom, and the Spirit of God has filled you, the next thing that should happen is to speak to one another in psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs. We have dwelt on the word of Christ that has produced in us the mercy and the love of God, and the Spirit of God has filled

DAY 27: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT VI- PETER

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT VI- PETER DATE: 27 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: JOHN 21:15-19 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: LUKE 22:32 TPT But I have prayed for you, Peter, that you would stay faithful to me no matter what comes. Remember this: after you have turned back to me and have been restored, make it your life mission to strengthen the faith of your brothers.”   Today, we shall be concluding on the riches of God’s mercy by looking at Peter as our final case study. Before the Lord’s crucifixion, He told Peter about what was revealed to Him in the place of prayer, of how Satan desired to have him. But He has prayed that his faith should not fail. First, Satan has a desire. That was what Jesus Christ meant in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” The devil, our adversary, will not come to you, except he had found something in your

DAY 26: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT V- THE SYRO-PHOENICIAN WOMAN

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT V- THE SYRO-PHOENICIAN WOMAN DATE: 26 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: MARK 7:24-30 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: MARK 7:29 ESV And he said to her, “For this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter.”   In today’s Bible reading, just like what we shared about the Samaritan woman, of how Jesus needed to go through Samaria because the riches of God’s mercy was about to visit her. And we understood from the Bible that the Jews ought to be the first to receive the gospel of Christ before the Gentiles (Matt. 10:4; 15:24). Jesus went to the region of Tyre and Sidon; the gentiles nations. Remember what Jesus said of Himself, that he did nothing except whatever He saw the Father did (Jn. 5:21). So His journey through the gentile nation was by the leading of the Spirit of God. In Mark’s gospel chapter one, the Bible says of Jesus of how He wo

DAY 25: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT IV- THE PARALYZED MAN

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT IV- THE PARALYZED MAN DATE: 25 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: MARK 2:1-12 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: MARK 2:5 GNT Seeing how much faith they had, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My son, your sins are forgiven.”   In our Bible reading, we see that Jesus preached the word. There is difference between preaching and teaching, and the Bible is very meticulous in using both. In that same chapter of our Bible reading, we see ‘preach’ (Mk. 2:2) and ‘teach’ (Mk. 2:13). What is the difference? To teach is to impart instruction, instil doctrine into one or to explain or expound a thing.   But to preach is to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom of God. It also means to teach about the kingdom of God with evidence. Matthew 4:23 NKJV And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of

DAY 24: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT III- THE LEPER

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT III- THE LEPER DATE: 24 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: MARK 1:40-45 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: MARK 1:41 TPT Being deeply moved with tender compassion, Jesus reached out and touched the skin of the leper and told him, “Of course I want you to be healed- so now, be cleansed!”   This leper in our Bible reading is another person from the New Testament that enjoyed the mercy of God. From his conversation with Jesus, you could tell how faithless he was. But he was bold enough to approach him, that was why he obtained mercy (Heb. 4:16). The leper must have heard of this man called Jesus. He had some understanding who this Jesus was; a miracle worker. And it was with that confidence that he came to Jesus. The sovereign mercy of God overlooks our ignorance, but God decides who to show this mercy to. Yet His new mercies are freely shown to anyone with unders

THE JOURNEY SO FAR

Image
The online ministry first started in September 23rd, 2013 as a WhatsApp closed group chat with the name, Soul Winners for Christ. The ministry was founded based on a personal revelation and heavenly encounter of the young preacher and co-founder of the ministry, when he had a vision of heaven and was commissioned by Jesus to go and preach the gospel by making disciples of all nations as recorded in Matthew 28:18-20. This encounter happened sometime around August, 2013. Later on, the young preacher, Samuel Godwin-Oburoh started preaching in his school during the Friday school fellowship, back then in secondary school. It was during that period of time that he discovered that God had called him into the ministry and He had given him a ministry, that was when the name Soul Winners for Christ was changed to Soul Winning Ministry. It was then that a Facebook group and page were designed to advance the gospel. And around this period in time in 2014, a Christian blog was designed for the

DAY 23: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT II- THE LAME MAN

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT II- THE LAME MAN DATE: 23 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: JOHN 5:1-15 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: JOHN 5:5 NLT One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years.   At the pool of Bethesda lie a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the water to be stirred up by an angel. And whoever that stepped in first was made well of whatever disease. But on that day, Jesus only came to heal just one of them. This lame man was shown mercy. Don’t forget that Jesus had the power to heal all kinds of sickness and disease (Matt. 4:23, 24; 8:16; 9:35; 10:1; 12:15; Lk. 6:19; Acts 10:38). But on that day he was led by God to heal just one lame man. We get to understand this when you read on in that John 5 (vs. 19-21). Salvation came to this lame man but he was still ignorant. Just like Lot, as we have discussed, this lame man e

DAY 22: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT I- THE SAMARITAN WOMAN

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT I- THE SAMARITAN WOMAN DATE: 22 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: JOHN 4:3-26 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: JOHN 4:4 NKJV But He needed to go through Samaria.   Let’s progress onward on the riches of God’s mercy in few more people in the New Testament. In our Bible reading, Jesus left Judea and departed again to Galilee. This reveals that he had travelled from Judea to Galilee before, but this time he needed to go through Samaria. That is something prompted him to take that route. Normally, a Jew does not travel through Samaria, but Jesus was led to pass through Samaria. Philippians 2:13 NKJV For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.             It was the Spirit of God at work in him at that time. It was Jesus that said, “… the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the

DAY 21: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT IV- NEBUCHADNEZZAR

Image
THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)   TOPIC: THE RICHES OF GOD’S MERCY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT IV- NEBUCHADNEZZAR DATE: 21 SEPTEMBER, 2021 BIBLE READING: DANIEL 4:28-37 VERSE FOR MEDITATION: EXODUS 33:19 NLT The LORD replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.”   Nebuchadnezzar, just like Samson, learned about the mercy of God in a hard way. God does nothing on this earth without revealing His plans to His servants the prophets (Amos 3:7). Nothing happens just like that, though there are instances that some things would happen without the knowledge of God’s servants and friends. This is the sovereign act of God, and this cannot be questioned (Rom. 9:18-22). But in most cases, nothing happens just like that, there are people on earth that God share His secrets with. This is the mercy of God!
