DAY 25: WHEN PERSECUTION ARISES II

THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY
(A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)

TOPIC: WHEN PERSECUTION ARISES II
DATE: 25 SEPTEMBER, 2019
BIBLE READING: JOHN 15:18-22
MEDITATION/MEMORY VERSE: 2 TIMOTHY 3:12 (AMP)
Indeed, all who delight in pursuing righteousness and are determined to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be hunted and persecuted [because of their faith].

The question is not ARE WE ALL GOING TO FACE THE PERSECUTION? Because we all will face persecution.
But the question should be WHY ARE WE GOING TO FACE THE PERSECUTION?
Our verse for meditation explains that if we desire to live a godly live, we must be persecuted. Because if Christ the Messiah was persecuted, then we are in for it too.
Persecution does not only mean to eliminate a certain group of people, but it means to afflict, harass or punish someone for his/her belief.
And yes, there are people like that that loves to frustrate your efforts in serving God. But Jesus said that we should love them (Matt. 5:43-48).
Now, let's see what persecution did to our Messiah.
Hebrews 5:8‮-‬9‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
Our Messiah was perfected through the things He suffered.
Perfection could mean spiritual maturity.
I Peter 5:10
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
And as Christians; followers of Christ, we should always see persecution as a way to grow up spiritually. Because loving them shall make us perfect (Matt. 5:44, 48).
I Peter 2:21
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.
We are not expected to be depressed when being persecuted, but to rejoice in it. Just as how Paul and Silas did in Acts 16.
I will conclude today’s devotional with this verse:
James 1:2-4
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trails, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

ACTION POINT: BY HIS SPIRIT, I WILL REJOICE IN PERSECUTION.
PRAYER POINT: MY LORD AND MY GOD! HELP ME TO REMEMBER YOUR WORD AND REJOICE WHEN BEING PERSECUTED.
PERSONAL READING: MATTHEW 5:43-48
