DAY 5: THE CREATION STORY IV: THE REALITIES OF THE TRUE LIGHT (PART ONE)

THE RHEMA WORD FOR TODAY
(A DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PREACHER SAM)

TOPIC: THE CREATION STORY IV: THE REALITIES OF THE TRUE LIGHT (PART ONE)
DATE: 5 SEPTEMBER, 2019
BIBLE READING: GENESIS 1:1-5; 14-19
MEDITATION/MEMORY VERSE: JOHN 8:12 (AMP)
Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Light is translated from the original Greek word; ‘phos,’ which is a Septuagint of the Hebrew word, or, which refers to making manifest, that is, making easy to understand, and clear.
From our Bible reading today, there are two lights mentioned (Gen. 1:3, 14, 15).
What is (are) the difference(s) between these two lights?
In verse 3, God declared single light, but in verses 14 and 15, God declared lights (plural) — more than one. Verse 16 had the specific number (2 lights). And these lights were meant for signs, seasons, days and year.
So what or who is the light in verse 3? Because verse 16 has given us a clue to the (two) lights: sun and moon. But before then, let us discuss a little about the lights in verses 14 and 15.
The ‘heaven’ mentioned in the Hebrew, is shamayim shameh. As used in this context, it refers to the sky as well as to the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve.
So also with firmament, in the Hebrew, it is raqiya which refers to the sky— the heaven.
Genesis 1:6-8
Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
This firmament; the heaven, is here on earth. It is the atmosphere.
Genesis 1:14
Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years.
Another firmament (heaven), right up there in the sky, as well as to the higher ether where the celestial (or planetary) bodies revolve. This is the second heaven.
And the last one mentioned, the third:
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Apostle Paul gave us the explanation to this:
2 Corinthians 12:1-4
It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord: I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago— whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows— such a one was caught up to the third heaven. And I know such a man— whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

ACTION POINT: I CHOOSE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE CREATION.
PRAYER POINT: OH GOD! PLEASE BLESS THE EYES OF MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THEY MAY BE ENLIGHTENED.
PERSONAL READING: GENESIS 1:1-31
