Topic: WINNING THE WAR AGAINST JEZEBEL II (STRONGHOLDS)
Bible Reading: Revelation 2:18-29
Verse for Meditation: Revelation 2:20 TPT
But I have this against you: you are forgiving that Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is seducing my loving servants. She is teaching that it is permissible to indulge in sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
Spiritual warfare is basically a fight for the knowledge of the truth. The greatest offensive weapon of the devil is ignorance; our greatest offensive weapon is the knowledge of the truth that is in the Word of God.
When Jesus was tempted of the devil, he overcame his temptations through the declaration of the Word of God. As important as prayer and fasting is, you still need the Word of God to overcome the devil.
What are strongholds? Strongholds are not generational curses, but they are fortresses which figuratively mean wrong ideologies.
The Bible says we should pull down wrong ideologies, cast down wrong imagination and arrogant attitudes that stand against the knowledge of God. And we do so by bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2Cor. 10:4-5). That is spiritual warfare, and it is a battle of the mind.
Jesus’ temptation for example, is a battle that occurred in His mind. How do we know? For instance, the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in an instant (Lk. 4:5). First there is no such physical mountain where you can climb to see the entire world. Secondly, it happened so fast. This definitely happened in His mind. And the way He overcame such stronghold and imagination is by declaring the Word.
Thoughts are silent words; voices in our minds. But uttering out God’s words is louder. That’s one way to win the war!
Generational curses are real, no doubt. They can be regarded to as iniquity in the Bible (Ex. 20:5; 34:7; Num. 14:18; Neh. 9:2; Jer. 14:20). But reading through God’s prophetic plan of redemption in breaking such curse, we will not suffer for the guilt of our ancestors (Jer. 31:29-34; Ezek. 18:1-4). Christ has redeemed us from every curse (Gal. 3:13).
Now the mindset of believing that those generational curses are still on us is actually the stronghold which we need to pull down. We are not cursed, but blessed!
Now who is Jezebel that we are to war against? This Jezebel that we are talking about is a spirit, and her job is to teach God’s people that it is okay to indulge in sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. The Bible calls her teaching, ‘deeper truths.’
There are some folks parading themselves in the gathering of believers teaching some so-called divine mysteries which are not biblical. Thus, leading God’s people into error; that’s deception and manipulation.
Some others do not just teach demonic doctrines, they practise them in the church of God, and that’s witchcraft.
And what about legalising what God clearly call a sexual sin? These are the areas Jezebel manifests: deception, manipulation, witchcraft and sexual sin.
By the way, “rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft...” (1Sam. 15:23), so any doctrine that encourages rebellion against God’s laid down principles and authority is a doctrine of witchcraft, manipulation and deception.
Tomorrow by God’s grace we will dwell a little more on sexual sin.
PRAYER:
SWEET HOLY SPIRIT, PLEASE HELP ME TO BE DISCERNING ENOUGH TO EASILY SPOT ON THE MANIFESTATION OF JEZEBEL IN MY MIDST. AND GRANT ME THE GRACE TO DEFEAT SUCH SPIRIT. AMEN!
DECLARATION:
THE LORD REBUKES YOU, O JEZEBEL!
Bible Reading Plan: John 17; Ephesians 5; Proverbs 19
