Topic: SPIRITUAL MOUNTAIN I

Bible Reading: Exodus 3:1-6

Verse for Meditation: Psalms 24:3 NLT

Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?

Spiritual Mountain is not a mystical teaching but an allegory to explain some spiritual truths. And I will be categorising these spiritual mountains into three; the mountains of God, the mountains of Influence and the mountains of Opposition.

Excuse me to say that the mountains of God are in three different stages or heights. The first is Mount Sinai (Horeb), the second is the mountain of transfiguration and the third is the Upper Room.

Both Moses and Elijah had a divine encounter on Mount Horeb (Ex. 3:1; 1 Kings 19:8). So mount Horeb is the mountain of encounter.

Jesus was transformed on the mountain of transfiguration (Matt. 17:1-2). So on this mountain there is transformation.

And the Upper Room, the early disciples were empowered by the Holy Spirit in an Upper Room (Acts 1:8, 12, 13). Peter rose up Dorcas from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit in an Upper Room (Acts 9:36-40). And Paul prayed for the dead Eutychus who fell from an Upper Room and was brought back alive to the Upper Room (Acts 20:8-12). So this can be seen as the mountain of empowerment.

The new birth experience takes place on this mountain of encounter. It is on this mountain that we surrender to the lordship of Jesus Christ (cf. Mic. 4:2).

Then after the new birth experience, we all need another experience of spiritual growth. This growth comes through the knowledge of Christ which transforms our mind and gives us a better perspective of who God really is (2 Pet. 3:18; Rom. 12:1-2).

And as we begin to grow, we begin to grow to becoming sons of God that take up the Father’s responsibility in advancing His kingdom. The Father Himself has to empower us by His Spirit so that we can effectively carry out His duties; this happens on the mountain of empowerment.

Apostle John gave us this teaching which explains these mountains.

The Mountain of Encounter;

1 John 2:12 NKJV

I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.

The Mountain of Transformation;

1 John 2:13b NKJV

...I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one...

The Mountain of Empowerment;

1 John 2:13a NKJV

I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning...

All these three mountains of God have something in common; you must intentionally climb on those mountains.

Matthew 5:1 NKJV

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on the mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.

The disciples are followers of Jesus Christ. Men that truly want to follow Jesus must climb up the mountain. The multitudes (the world) won’t, only men who truly want fellowship with God must deliberately ascend the mountains of God.

It is on this mountain of empowerment that you can be given the power to possess and conquer the second category; the Mountain of Influence. It is until you’ve climbed up the Mountain of Empowerment, you cannot be trusted with kingdom affairs.

PRAYER:

LORD PLEASE HELP ME TO GROW UP TO BECOMING A SON THAT WILL TAKE UP YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN ADVANCING YOUR KINGDOM.

DECLARATION:

I AM INTENTIONAL IN MY SPIRITUAL WALK AND FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD’S SPIRIT.
